I'm feeling very happy after qualifying. The car has been fantastic since the beginning of the weekend, just as it was in Malaysia, and our result today shows the progress we have made recently developing the car. Whether it's been wet or dry, the car has been quick, and we've only had to make small adjustments to find the performance. With some penalties for other drivers, it looks as though I will start the race from fifth place, so there's a great opportunity to score some big points.feedback

The morning session went well and we did a lot of work because we were expecting the rain later in the day. During FP2, we went out to experience the conditions and the car felt strong, so I'm not worried if the rain comes back tomorrow. If it's wet or dry, we have a well-balanced car and we can be competitive. In the dry the car was not far away from where I wanted it to be -- similar to how the car felt in Malaysia, so that's a good sign. We didn't have much time to work on the set-up adjustments, but I have a good feeling and we know where we need to focus tonight.” said Esteban Ocon on this article: Who said what after Friday practice for the 2017 Japanese Grand Prix. Esteban Ocon quotes

The first incident at the start, I accept. Even if I think he saw me in the mirror we are three wide, so I accept that one even if he squeezed me into the wall, that's dangerous and not professional. But the second one is just one too much. What's the point of doing that? He just squeezed me into the wall, 300kph, risking my life, risking his life for no reason and costing lots of points for the team. He's supposed to be a professional driver, he didn't show it today.feedback

I'm going to go and speak to him man to man and tell him the truth. He's going to have a child. I don't know if he wants to die or something. It's just ridiculous.feedback

We've let them race up until now. If they can't do it in a manner which is good for the team, then they won't be racing any more.feedback

I have to work very hard. I have a lot less experience than Sergio (Perez) so I have to catch up on so many details that come naturally to him. Before and after each race I am mostly in the factory for simulator work. I think that is what makes a big difference. I am not here to stay behind him all the time. I want to push, very hard.feedback

I don't want to say a number -- so let's put it this way: a lot more! My personal best race was Canada. There I was feeling the best. But a great memory was also Barcelona, when the guys climbed the fence and were shouting at us -- that was very special. In that moment finishing in P4 and P5 was just like a one-two finish. You cannot plan success. We respect the targets that we set at the start of the season -- which means scoring points at every race. And that is pretty much what I am doing.feedback

I don't want to respond to those comments. I've been finishing more than 40 races in a row in single seaters, I'm European F3 champion and GP3 world champion, I don't think I'm really lacking experience on racing or wheel-to-wheel fights.feedback

After the race I took a plane to go to Silverstone to review [the incident] with the team. They prepared some notes with what they thought and we came to the conclusion that it was a 50/50. It was not only my fault, not only Sergio's fault but it was both of our fault. There were things he did that were not right, there are things I did which were not right so overall it makes it a race incident and 50/50.feedback

I'm happy with the performance and disappointing with the potential we had. Obviously it's never nice to get an incident like that in the race, and in the end me and Checo lost a lot of places. I had the recovery which was quite nice at the end, still to get some points for the team. He touched me after Turn 1, and he went on. I don't know if he saw me or not. For sure we will discuss it internally and it should not happen for the future. Unfortunately it's racing, it happens sometimes but we'll see. We're annoyed for what happened really.feedback

Jun 11 2017

Well, I had the inside [of the corner], so I can't stop the car more than that. He had the chance to back off sooner, but we are fighting and I came from the inside where there is literally no grip and I just tried to make the corner.feedback

As a team we scored really important points today, but I am a bit frustrated by this result because I feel a podium may have been possible. This is the way racing goes and we have to look at the positives: we had a great car that allowed us to take the fight to Ferrari and Red Bull and that is quite impressive. I am confident it won't be the last time we will fight at this level and it was an awesome feeling - a really enjoyable race. The team as a whole did a great job today - they gave me such a fast car and we can be proud of our work and of the points we have gained.feedback

Things just didn't work out for us in the race, which is a shame because we had strong pace and should have finished in the points. I was fighting with Felipe [Massa] in the early part of the race and we managed to undercut him during the pit stops, but then I picked up a puncture -- probably from debris -- and had to make an extra pit stop.feedback

It feels great to finish in seventh after such a strong performance from the whole team.feedback

That's the unknown, to be honest. I drove DTM in the rain... If you have a heated screen, like they have in the road cars, a heat resistance inside the screen that you don't see when it's dry, it could be fine. They have this in fighter jets so I don't see why we can't have it.feedback

Apr 15 2017 - Bahrain

The practice sessions went pretty well for me and I'm quite satisfied with our performance. I am feeling good in the car and this is a circuit I know well and enjoy. I was able to simply focus on performance and getting the information we needed about the new parts and the tyres. It was tough in the heat and it's a demanding track on tyres so making them last and getting the performance from them is definitely the focus as we prepare for tomorrow.feedback

Mar 28 2017 - Renault

Me and Nico were a lot faster than Fernando, but we couldn't get close so that was very tough. He did a small mistake out of Turn 12 and I managed to get close and get my shot.feedback

How the tyres cope behind another a car will potentially allow drivers to attack more because they recover. You can overdrive the tyre and they do recover. That is completely different from last year. It was always an issue for the drivers as they approached another car, if they attacked and missed, they destroyed the tyres and they couldn't go again. This year it looks like you can attack and recover and attack again – you can have multiple goes at it. It could be the mechanism that unlocks more overtaking – I'm optimistic.feedback

It's something I've been working towards my whole life and I intend to grab this opportunity with both hands.feedback
