I had the Indy 500 which was a nice experience, [his own personal] go-kart circuit is going great, fantastic. So fantastic first half of the season.feedback

We were making it into Q3 normally last year, ninth/10th was our average position whereas this year we struggled a bit more. On the personal side, it has been a very, very good season for me. With the 2017 cars, I'm able to drive back again to my driving style, I feel much more competitive than the previous years, I'm feeling competitive out there on the track.”. I need mixed conditions, I need 25 pit stops for the others, to change tyres very often aughs) and if do 23 stops then you recover a lot of places.feedback

Jul 13 2017

I think the circuit will change a little bit, some of the corners will not be corners any more or will not be challenging, so that will change a little bit the way you drive here, the same with the braking distance as happened in Austria.feedback

Jul 13 2017

The braking distance is shorter and shorter this year, so we arrive slower and go quicker through the corners, so everything is compressed, and here there will be corners where braking nearly disappear. Looking forward.feedback

Jul 08 2017

A positive Saturday. I feel we did the maximum today - I'm happy with our laps, our result and our performance in general this weekend. We had an unexpected change of engine, and I reverted back to the old spec today, so finishing P12 and feeling competitive all through quali was positive news. The team is working very hard to improve our situation: we bring aero updates to every race, we bring new engine specs whenever we can, and we're definitely moving forwards. We still need to improve our reliability, but hopefully we'll see further signs in the next couple of weeks. From 12th place, with a good start or a good strategy, we could be in a position to score points. There's some possible rain forecast for tomorrow - if that turns out to be correct, it'll probably open up more opportunities for us. We need to be ready to take them.feedback

Jul 08 2017

It was good, I'm happy with the laps and the performance today. I think the car felt good all weekend, and I think this position is the maximum we could achieve today. The team is working very hard to improve the situation, we bring I don't know how many updates every race, new specs on the engine every time we can.feedback

Jul 06 2017

Emotions are always there. We are humans, we are racing, we are defending our teams, our performance on the track and sometimes in different moments of the race, in different races of the year, in different positions you are fighting for you have here and there little things, little contacts even at the start.feedback

Jul 06 2017

It's difficult to talk from the outside as you're not the first person involved on that. We did not hear the explanations, we did not saw the data, we did not have any information, so completely supportive of FIA and the decisions they take and now it's time to move on. I heard they move on already and concentrating on Austria so I think all the rest we should do the same, concentrate here and hopefully see a fantastic race again here.feedback

Jul 06 2017

Sometimes you arrive to the first corner and arrive and have an incident with one driver, for whatever reason in the next three or four grands prix you're with that driver at every single start. It's normal that when you're fighting for the world championship that the first two guys, they have an incident or have any contact there's bigger repercussion as there's a lot of attention on them.feedback

Jul 05 2017 - Honda

There are reasons to feel more optimistic about our weekend in Austria. It's a circuit that's not as dependent on power as some of the recent races, and I think our car will be better suited to the twists and turns of the Spielberg circuit. I think we'll be able to push hard. We've also got a couple of useful steps coming on the car, including -- hopefully -- Honda's revised Spec Three power unit, which I tried during Friday practice in Azerbaijan. Every step is important, so I'm looking forward to a positive weekend where we can once again get everything out of the car.feedback

Jul 05 2017 - Honda

Our performance [in Baku] not only showed that the foundations of our car package are strong, but also that our operational team -- our mechanics, engineers and strategists -- are all racers, poised and waiting to take advantage of any situation. Two points may have been a small consolation after an extremely tough weekend, but, as I said at the time, we'll take it and use it to drive us forwards.feedback

Jun 25 2017

In the end it was a race that, in other circumstances, we could have even won it or finish on the podium. I was with Ricciardo when the first Safety Car came out, Hamilton lost the head rest, Vettel got a penalty, the two Force India went off, Kimi retired, so you are automatically in the first two or three positions. We should have fought for the win, but unfortunately we are not in this position now, but to collect two points in Baku is something we never thought would be possible. We never thought we would collect our first points of the season here, so they are welcome.feedback

Jun 25 2017

We had some battery issues on the straights, and the top speed too, so when we have a car just in front of us we can gain up to 0.6s or 0.7s just with the slipstream, so I really wanted to have Magnussen right in front of me to be able to protect my position better, so I wasn't trying to attack him, I just needed him there to help me defend my position.feedback

Jun 25 2017

We did a good job today in terms of preparing for the race: we only used one set of tyres, put in low fuel and did some checks. We know we're not competitive around here, but the race is going to be long and demanding. We've seen many mistakes from almost every driver, and we need to avoid making any of those tomorrow. In these kinds of grands prix, we need to try and finish the race, get some data for the team, and keep developing the car. We need to make sure we keep away from the walls tomorrow. Let's also hope we can end up in the points.feedback

Jun 23 2017

And I very much hope that we will see France involved in that because it is clearly very much in all our interest to see a common solution.feedback

Jun 19 2017 - Honda

After getting so close to scoring our first point in Canada and suffering another retirement, we go to Baku with even more determination, but it's no secret that we expect to find this weekend tricky. After the power unit issues it's likely we'll need to take penalties, and the nature of the narrow, fast straights and tight corners means overtaking is generally tough. However, it's certainly not impossible, and we'll keep fighting as we always do.feedback

Jun 14 2017

What a ... What a mental guy! What was that?! Box, I think I've got damage on the front wing. What a mental guy!feedback

Jun 12 2017 - Honda

It's definitely very frustrating. It is not only that we lost a point today and we lost another race, we will start last in Baku because Jenson changed the power unit in Monaco and started last. Here we lost a power unit and in Baku we will start last again. The situation is definitely not nice.feedback

Jun 12 2017 - Honda

It's hard for the guys in the team to lose that point. For me, it doesn't change my life. After 16 years here, one point is... But for the guys here, it means something. They've been working so hard, day and night, preparing our car, preparing the strategy and taking care of every single detail. You want to do a good result for them even if it's just one point. Frustrating.feedback

Jun 11 2017

Why not? I mean, I'm very open to anything. I don't have a clear answer right now. I would be lying if I told you I know what would happen next year.feedback

Jun 11 2017

We were in the points with a couple of laps to the end but my engine gave up. I am frustrated, of course, but it's not only about losing a point today, of course. As a driver, we try to come here and drive as fast as we can, so missing on that point is disappointing especially for the guys, who have been working so much day and night, preparing the car, preparing the strategy and taking care of every single detail.feedback

Jun 11 2017

Our chassis feels quite strong in the corners, but we are being overtaken by everyone in the middle on the straights. It's tough times. The support we have from the fans in Canada is great, so when my car stopped I thought we should give something back, and I went up the grandstand to give my gloves to the people who had been cheering me on.feedback

Jun 10 2017

The car has felt great so far. It's been fun out there today, and the level of grip is very high. Even though the tyres are difficult to warm up, they're very consistent and you can push throughout the run, so I think it's going to be an interesting race.feedback

Jun 10 2017

I think what we achieved in today's qualifying was the maximum we could have hoped for. I'm happy with our performance - it was probably a bit quicker than we expected, actually, considering our power deficit. We're in P12, not ideal position to start from, but I think our time compared to the pole time here is quite competitive for us. Obviously, we'd like to be further forward, but I believe we maximised the potential today with a good, clean lap.feedback

Jun 10 2017

The key to tomorrow's race will be performance and reliability, as always. We'll have to do some fuel saving and keep an eye on engine cooling, so it won't be easy. But the first priority tomorrow will be to finish the race, and, if we can be in the points, that'll be great.feedback

Jun 10 2017 - Honda

The truth is that it went better than we expected and this is the maximum we could have done. Twice I scrapped the wall, I finished again ahead of my teammate, which is always the first goal for any driver, and to get within 1.2s of the best time in Q2, with the power deficit we have, it's clearly like pole position for us. It was the best performance of the year, for sure.feedback

Jun 10 2017 - Honda

Besides, with this engine we have to do a lot of fuel saving, we need to open the car to get as much cooling as possible to the radiators as the engine gets really hot and all that affects the performance.feedback

Jun 10 2017 - Honda

Tomorrow I'll try to collect some points. To finish the race won't be easy with all the reliability issues we have been facing, hopefully we'll managed to do that inside the top ten, as that's the main goal. In Spain I actually started 7th but it was difficult to overtake because we were very slow down the straights.feedback

Jun 10 2017 - NASCAR

If there are 25 or 26 races maybe it's good in one aspect, but bad in other aspects. At this point of my career I consider a good quality of life is more important than to do more seasons in F1. So if the calendar stays between 20 or 21, I will be happy to continue. If it's increasing like NASCAR where they have 40 or 50 races, it is not for me. It is better for other drivers.feedback

Jun 10 2017

I started when the calendar was 16 races, plus the tests, and now we keep on increasing the races year after year and I think we are in a number that is quite demanding already. The life you have, between the preparation, the sponsor events, the tests, the commitments you have plus 20-21 races, I think is already enough.feedback

Jun 10 2017 - NASCAR

If there are 25 or 26 races or whatever, I think it's good in one aspect but in other aspects, in how demanding becomes your life, at this point of my career, I consider that a good quality of life is more important than to do more seasons in F1. If the calendar stays between 20-21 I'll be happy to continue. If it's increasing, like NASCAR -- they have 40 or 50 races -- it's not for me. It's better for other drivers.feedback

May 30 2017

The rears are overheating [on the lap to the grid], I don't know how long I'm going to able to make it last. But they are definitely going to be overheating.feedback

May 29 2017 - Honda

It's a shame. I think I deserved to finish the race, at least. Who knows where we could have finished?feedback

May 29 2017

I didn't know if I can be as quick as anyone in an Indy car. You lead just one lap here, it was already a nice feeling. I was passing, watching the tower, saw the 29 on top of it. I was thinking at that moment if Zak (Brown, McLaren's team principal) or someone from the team was taking a picture, because I want that picture at home.feedback

May 29 2017

It's a very nice surprise to come here with big names, big guys, the best in open-wheel racing and be competitive. The last two weeks, I came here basically to prove myself, to challenge myself. I know that I can be as quick as anyone in an F1 car. I didn't know if I can be as quick as anyone in an Indy car.feedback

May 29 2017

It was nice to have this competitive feeling, even leading the Indy 500, you know. I was passing, watching the tower, saw the 29 [his car's number] on top of it. I was thinking at that moment if Zak or someone from the team was taking a picture because I want that picture at home.feedback

May 29 2017

I didn't win. But I will drink a little milk.feedback

May 29 2017

We've been sharing the last two weeks all the meetings in the morning, the meetings in the afternoon. Takuma was a lot of help, coming from F1. The last two laps I was on my knees really pushing for Sato. I was extremely happy for the final result.feedback

May 28 2017

I know that I can be as quick as anyone in an F1 car, I didn't know if I can be as quick as anyone in an IndyCar. It was nice to have this competitive feeling, leading the Indy 500. The whole day has been a very nice experience from the very beginning, the presentation, and then the racing was good, it was nice. I think the performance was good, we were leading for a couple of laps and at the red flag we were leading the race, so a very nice surprise to come here with these big names, the best on oval racing and be able to be competitive.feedback

May 28 2017

I felt the noise, the engine friction, I backed off and I saw the smoke and, yeah, it's a shame. It's a very nice surprise to come here with big names, big guys, the best in open-wheel racing and be competitive.feedback

May 28 2017

The last two weeks, I came here basically to prove myself, to challenge myself. I know that I can be as quick as anyone in an F1 car. I didn't know if I can be as quick as anyone in an Indy car.feedback

May 28 2017

I am sure you don't want to hear my voice before you start but I just want to say good luck and I will be watching you here. Please don't do that!feedback

May 28 2017

It was a great experience, the last two weeks. I came here basically to prove myself, to challenge myself. I know that I can be as quick as anyone in an F1 car. I didn't know if I can be as quick as anyone in an IndyCar.feedback

May 28 2017

This has been one of the best experiences in my career.feedback

May 28 2017

It's true that before coming here some of the questions were how you can trade Monaco race for Indy 500. I won two times there (Monaco), I won two world. So for the future, Canada, obviously we will try to keep improving. I think the car seems to be performing better and better. I think the second half of the season will be much more competitive and we will enjoy much more.feedback

May 28 2017

I didn't miss Monaco in terms of result. So for the future, Canada, obviously we will try to keep improving. I think the car seems to be performing better and better. I think the second half of the season will be much more competitive and we will enjoy much more.feedback

May 28 2017

To drive around Monaco for a sixth place, seventh place, even a fifth place ... To be here is not possible to compare that thing.feedback

May 28 2017

It was nice to have this competitive feeling, even leading the Indy 500.feedback

May 28 2017

The whole day has been a very nice experience from the very beginning and I think the performance was good.feedback

May 28 2017

I don't have a plan for the beginning of the race. In Formula One we are used to playing all of our cards in the first couple of corners because the positions are defined after that, but here it is very different. But I cannot say that I will play it safe at the beginning of the race because everyone else will take advantage of that. So I need to keep very open to what is going to happen and if I can run in a comfortable group, I will be happy.feedback

May 27 2017 - Honda

There is still no emotion. Until Monday, there are no emotions allowed to enter your mind. The mind is so focused on the race. There is no space for the emotions right now.feedback

May 27 2017 - Honda

My intention, or first priority, is to race here. I am happy with the team, but we are not winning.feedback

May 27 2017 - Honda

If from here to September, October, we are in a position where we see clearly a possibility to win in 2018, I will be more than happy to stay with the team. If it is not the case, then I will be more than happy to talk to anyone.feedback

May 26 2017

If one driver can win Formula One, Indy 500 and Le Mans, you can prove you can adapt to any driving style in the world and be competitive against each of the specialists in that area. To move a little out of the comfort zone was attractive as well.feedback

May 26 2017

I said, You know, I was thinking the same. After my F1 career, I try a different series and try to be a complete driver, but not just a specialist in Formula One. I love racing. Any series.feedback

May 26 2017

It was a huge event around the race. When you watch on TV, you see the grandstands. You see how many people are up there in that moment. It looks huge when I saw it for the first time.feedback

May 26 2017

But I'm here to learn. I'm here to discover everything. That's part of the adventure.feedback

May 26 2017

We were not fighting for the world championship, and we were underperforming with the engine we have. I do not have high expectations, but if I am able to drive the car I never had even tested, the experience, maybe it's nice.feedback

May 25 2017

The close contact with the fans here is good. It's fun, and you enjoy them. I think if you do that in Formula One with the level of technology, sophistication, all the hard work in terms of making small differences on the cars, it would never work. Probably that formula that we have in Formula 1 would never work here because it's too complex to understand all the technology that is around the cars, but probably the fans out here, they don't care about what we have inside the engine cover.feedback

May 25 2017

It's different formats. One is working there, one is working here.feedback

May 25 2017

I've had many advices. From the day I started I've had advice from everyone, from Michael [Andretti], from Mario [Andretti], my teammates, from Gil [de Ferran]... at the end of the day you have to experience yourself the things that are happening and improvise. But the first couple of restarts will be the best lessons... whatever you planned before will not be like the real thing. The first couple of starts I will learn, I will improve mistakes that I do and hopefully the last couple of restarts I will be more experienced.feedback

May 24 2017

Then there is the mental aspect of being in the car for all eight days. Every time you leave the pits, you are circulating above 225 mph. There is absolutely no margin for error; it's the tightest of tightropes. You cannot step over. If you do, that Safer Barrier is waiting.feedback

May 24 2017

His engineer will be talking strategy and his spotter -- you need two because the Speedway is two-and-a-half miles and one spotter can't see everything -- will be in his ear. It's going to be tough, but he's with a great team and they will do everything to help.feedback

May 24 2017

There's a lot of things going on; the weather is going to change a lot. When you look at the Speedway, there's four left-hand corners; so, what's the big deal? But the weather changes, the temperature the humidity changes, the wind direction changes; it completely changes how the track feels.feedback

May 24 2017

The toughest thing I found at the Speedway is [learning] how to race. To run on your own is not that difficult. But when you get in a pack, [it's about] how to position your car, and some of that comes from experience. If the person in front moves his car to a certain position, where do you position your car? How do you time your passes to keep the momentum up.feedback

May 22 2017 - Honda

I'm used to it. I'm used to changing engines before qualifying and the race.feedback

May 22 2017 - Honda

The car was on the limit but I don't know if it was possible to be on pole position but definitely very close. I had an overboost problem on lap two out of the last corner and it was like hitting the brakes. I went one gear down and started to pick up speed again. I crossed the line and it was 230.7 mph or something like that when I thought it was 225 mph or something.feedback

May 22 2017 - Honda

I nearly came into the pit lane because I thought, This qualifying run is over with this problem.' I was still running and still putting the laps together and I was positively surprised with the total time. So I think today the car performed better than yesterday. Already in practice it felt very, very competitive, so we were probably very close to pole position today.feedback

May 21 2017

I think the team did a fantastic job to put me in a position to be able to run 230[mph laps] in the average of the four laps. I think there is still more to come, more potential in the car. I didn't maximise the potential of the car in lap three and lap four so I keep learning. Every day is a lesson, so today's [Saturday's] lessons hopefully I can put together for tomorrow [Sunday] and find more speed. When I close the visor, you have to be sure I will go for it.feedback

May 21 2017

Bye bye! Because it was unthinkable probably. Not because you don't trust yourself or whatever, but there are many little ingredients here which you need to put together to find the right recipe. There is the wind, the trim, how much you trim with only one shot is difficult. There is the high boost, you have only a few laps to test on 'Fast Friday' and today [Saturday] with the conditions changing every single lap. It's a happy surprise -- the whole week -- but we did nothing, so we need to start finding some more limits from Sunday onwards. I just want to be quicker.feedback

May 19 2017

Gil de Ferran, my coach, my mentor, told me the four laps in qualifying will be the most horrible you've ever done because the car is very on the limit. But I will have a first touch on Fast Friday and then we will see on Saturday. We work still a lot on the race situation, getting out there with guys and running in traffic. I still miss more laps, but we will try to make the most of it on Friday with the more power we have and try to learn from that.feedback

May 17 2017

In the morning I go to the simulator and in the afternoon I come here, I keep doing laps and laps and learning. We didn't put everything together because there is no time to put it [together for a quick lap] and we keep experimenting on the setup and running in traffic. But I think we will arrive quite OK for qualifying and the race.feedback

May 17 2017

It felt OK, it felt as I expected. Here it is very important to keep close to the car in front of you and take the benefit on the next straight. It was useful. I'm in the best team for that, we have six cars and we were running together and my teammates were amazing in helping me and I knew that they were taking care of me for some moments of the runs.feedback

May 17 2017

It was good, very positive and productive day. We did a lot of laps, a lot of learning, some group running, finally with some traffic. So, it is information I will sleep on and be a better oval driver tomorrow. I'm on the best team for that; we are six cars and we were running together. My teammates were amazing helping me. I was learning every lap, when I follow them, learning what they do, how they attack the next corner or the next lap, how they prepare the overtaking, so, it was very useful and a very productive day.feedback

May 17 2017

The set-up is extremely important because the differences in Indy is just milliseconds. I think to set up the car differently, in the different parts of the race with different wind directions, with different fuel loads, tire degradation – there are many things that you need to make small adjustments, apparently, that I have no idea [about]. So I definitely need to learn those things, and to learn it alone will take two years. To learn it with some help, it will take six months. But I have two weeks. So I will need a lot of help.feedback

May 15 2017 - Honda

My intention, or my first priority is to race here, but not only to race, I want to win.feedback

May 14 2017

About Monaco, [I have] zero -- minus zero -- regrets. I will race the Indy 500, one of the best, or the biggest race in the world. There are six cars, two Mercedes, two Ferraris, two Red Bulls that will be unbeatable for the next couple of races so to fight for P7 in Monaco, no thanks.feedback

May 14 2017

I am more or less confident. Obviously I don't have 100 per cent confidence because in four races we have four DNFs. Friday was a difficult day also with another failure so you know, it's not that you go tomorrow and you are 100 per cent confident but I'm pretty sure that we keep learning with the things which are happening to the car so at least I have a good feeling for tomorrow.feedback

May 14 2017

I said yesterday that some weekends start on a good way then everything goes in the wrong direction and some other weekends starts wrong and by whatever point of the weekend gets right -- I had that feeling yesterday. Today everything went right and I still have the feeling that tomorrow everything is going to be okay so I am confident on that.feedback

May 13 2017

But, the race is tomorrow, and that's when the points will be given out. We need to try to maintain this position as much as possible with a good strategy executed well, and a good start of course.feedback

May 13 2017

Today is one of those days where everything goes right and everything is meeting and exceeding expectations. I'm definitely happy, surprisingly happy, after how our weekend started yesterday, and our qualifying results so far this season. P7 was not something we were even thinking about.feedback

May 13 2017

Yeah probably. How we build the speed from Q1, 1m22.0 to 1m 21.0, that second is just getting confidence and risking more without a bad surprise from the car. Thanks to the team, they have been working very hard, changing a lot of power units every day basically so to be in Q3 and P7 we feel we are in the positions we should be is a nice motivation and boost for the team as well.feedback

May 13 2017

I think the car yesterday performed quite well even if we had the strange FP1 and FP2 with not much running. The upgrades are working fine but I felt fine with the car. The people always giving this extra motivation and extra tenths, half of this Q3 is because of them.feedback

May 12 2017

It was my decision. I have had very little time in recent weeks to train with traveling etc so when they confirmed I had two hours free, instead of being here watching on television I went for some training. My dedication is still 100 percent to my fitness and to my preparation.feedback

May 12 2017

Around September, October, I need to consider what I will do next year – if it is time to challenges outside.feedback

May 12 2017

It's not my reputation, it's theirs. It's also their money and their image. I try to drive as fast as I can, but it's a much bigger problem for them.feedback

May 12 2017 - Honda

It's tough but it's tougher for McLaren, who bring updates trying to find a millisecond here and there and we cannot even run.feedback

May 11 2017

Step by step, I did the first one, which is just the first feeling with the car. Now when next week we start the free practice and you start running with all the people around etc., I will hopefully feel a little bit more confident and start understanding what the car needs and what I need as well to be prepared for May 28. Two intense weeks ahead, but pretty much looking forward.feedback

May 11 2017

It was different, probably as I expected to be. The car felt quite different, running this asymmetric setup definitely feels not normal to drive so you need to adjust a little bit your mindset, going into the run and into the first corner. At the end of the day, I felt a little bit more comfortable. I was able to start feeling some of the setup changes and things like that. I think the driving technique is quite different.feedback

May 11 2017 - Honda

My intention, or my first priority is to race here, but not only to race, I want to win. Now I don't have any more obligations with McLaren, I'm happy with the team but we are not winning. So if from here to September, October, I see there's a possibility to win in 2018 I will be more than happy to stay with the team. If it's not the case, I would be more than happy to talk to anyone.feedback

May 11 2017 - Honda

This is my last year with the contract I have now with McLaren so I will have to think a little bit, after the summer, because it's now quite a busy period and the Indy 500 will not be the time to think any further than this summer. But around September, October I need to consider what I will do next year and if it's time to find other challenges outside Formula One or if in Formula One there will be an opportunity to win the championship, which is my main goal. So I'm very open to anything.feedback

May 11 2017 - Honda

I think with this year's cars and the 2017 regulations the cars are good to drive. I think Formula One is back, in a way, we can see this real power and efficiency, corner speed, things we were missing a bit in the last couple of years. The cars look nice from the outside with the big tyres and everything so I like this Formula One.feedback

Probably 130R in Suzuka [is the fastest corner in F1], which probably is 320 or 330 km/h [198-205mph]. It feels different. I think on the Formula One, the feeling of just the steering wheel with the power steering and all the helps we have, it feels a little bit easier. Also the level of downforce, all the sophistication of Formula One gives you a little bit more grip and a little bit more predictable car.feedback

Here it's more driver input, you know, in different phases of the corner or different runs run.feedback

Here is just more raw. Everything is more racing. It's definitely faster and different. But at the end of the day, we all started in go karts. We all started in the small categories that probably we miss that kind of feeling when you get to Formula One and you have everything under control, you know, every single millimeter or every single tenth of a second.feedback

It does. It does. You know, they ask you if you are ready inside the car, you say yes. You switch on the car, and you go. They put fuel, tires, and you go. While in Formula One, it takes maybe six minutes to fire up the car, because they need to check, recheck. There is so much technology there, electronics, the hybrid system that needs to be linked with the combustion engine, the brake by wire, and many things that slow down every run or every feel that you may have on the car. So here, as you said, probably it's more fun because you just switch on the engine and you race.feedback

So at the second or third lap, I was able to do it. But in the first lap, it was definitely a very good feeling to be able to feel the respect of the place, the respect of the car, the respect of the speed. It's something that for any racing driver, it's just pure adrenaline, so it was a good day.feedback

I think there are a couple of things that I'm definitely not up to speed on. One is the traffic thing, I think we need to go step by step. Today was just running alone and trying to feel the car, the circuit and all the things that are involved with this technique. So I arrived to Turn 1, and I was convinced 100 per cent that I was doing flat out, but the foot was not flat out, you know, it has his own life, it was not connected, my brain with the foot at that moment.feedback

It was fun. [It's comfortable], not because of speed, just because of the laps. With 40 laps in the pocket you're able to fine-tune a little bit the lines, and the upshift and downshift, which gear to use in which corner, etc. At the moment everything looks good. Now we start the real thing. I think the feeling on the simulator is quite realistic.feedback

I think the track definitely changed during the day. In the morning, there was less wind or less gusts. But I don't know if the conditions were good or not. I have no idea because I have no experience here. But things definitely got worse in the afternoon because of the wind.feedback

May 03 2017

I was convinced, 100 percent, that I was doing flat out into the first turn. But my foot was not flat out on the first lap. It was a very good feeling to be able to feel the respect of this place, to feel the respect of the car.feedback

May 03 2017

It was fun, it was a good way to start and reach the speed. A little difficult at the beginning to reach the speeds, but then the next stages it was fine. At the moment everything looks good. ... Now I think we start the real deal.feedback

It's obviously frustrating. Four races into the championship, four DNFs (non-finishes). This time we did not even make the start. That's sad but there's nothing we can do.feedback

I come here, drive as fast as I can to try and help the team. We just hope the next race will be better. I'm just a driver. I help the team but the team have to look at the bigger picture.feedback

We don't talk much there. It's a different world; the only thing that I know is probably what you guys read, because it's what I read as well. Some of them are happy for me, happy for this thing and curious to see how competitive we can be, some others, they are not happy with anything in life. So, this was another thing for their own problems. It's OK. I think... different world!feedback

When the red lights go off you're motivated and you start fighting, but you're so behind on the straights that there's no way you can defend your position. You fight in a fair way with everyone, but you don't enjoy the battle.feedback

Winning in F1 is great, winning eight world championships in F1 would be great to have one more than Michael but that is very, very unlikely because I don't have time to do that. But I consider myself a racer, a complete driver adapting myself to any type of car in any conditions and the best way to show this to the world is to compete in different categories and try to win them.feedback

I've never raced an IndyCar car before, and neither have I ever driven on a super-speedway, but I'm confident that I'll get to grips with it fast. I've watched a lot of IndyCar action on TV and online, and it's clear that great precision is required to race in close proximity with other cars on the far side of 220mph [354km/h].feedback

Pratt & Whitney have been very transparent with us and given us all the detailed differences and we are satisfied and confident in the performance of the engine and aircraft.feedback
