Last quote by Fred Hoiberg

We've talked a little bit. He was over in Europe for an extended time. So we talked a lot through texts at that time. I'm planning to, at some point, to go out and see him soon.feedback

Fred Hoiberg quotes

Apr 27 2017

Nothing has changed as of now. But just that's the reality of the situation that we're in right now. It's probably going to be that way the rest of the series.feedback

Apr 27 2017

Wade had it going. And we went to Dwyane a lot of times with that small, small ball screen. We had Jimmy on the other side, they trapped it, got the ball out of it, but I thought our guys for the most part made the right plays. Jimmy, he's a guy that's carried us a lot in fourth quarters. We need to do a better job of getting him the ball.feedback

Apr 26 2017

He's as big a competitor as we have in our league. Obviously, he's as tough a guy to guard as we have in our league. I think the world of the kid, especially what he's going through now, how he's fought through that and like I said last night, he's a warrior to go out there and do what he's done so far in this series. He's again, a guy I think a lot of people root for because of the chip on his shoulder he plays with. He was the last pick in the draft and now he's a guy you'd argue could be in the MVP race. So I'm a huge fan of him. I said what I said and I'm done talking about it.feedback

Apr 26 2017

I'm a huge Isaiah Thomas fan.feedback

Apr 26 2017

That's what it was about last night. With Rajon going out, obviously he's our point guard so we need somebody who can go out there and compete and try to slow down Isaiah Thomas a little bit as well as he can, which obviously is a very difficult task. We thought Isaiah was as good option with that.feedback

Apr 26 2017

This is honestly the first time he's touched a basketball with that right hand. We'll see. We'll see how it goes. He's going to continue to condition and do everything that he can. He was in the weight room yesterday getting a good session in there. It was his first time back in the weight room. He's just getting this whole process started.feedback

Apr 24 2017

His wrist tendon has quieted down a little bit. So just decided to remove the cast. He's still in a splint for his thumb.feedback

Apr 23 2017

That's a great question. They talk about it every year. They talk about it every year, being a point of emphasis. It should be called. I've said all I'm going to say about it. I'm not going to talk about it anymore.feedback

Apr 23 2017

Let me say this, Isaiah Thomas is a hell of a player. An unbelievable competitor -- he's a warrior, everything he's going through right now. He had a hell of a game tonight. But when you're allowed to discontinue your dribble on every possession, he is impossible to guard. He's impossible to guard when you're able to put your hand underneath the ball and take two or three steps and put it back down. It's impossible to guard him in those situations.feedback

Apr 21 2017

Rondo obviously has been unbelievable in the two wins we had in Boston. So to get the news we got last night obviously was very difficult.feedback

Apr 21 2017

Rajon's experience in these types of settings is invaluable. To miss that now with him being out, most likely for the rest of the series, it does put some extra responsibility on some guys. Again, we've been through this. We had other guys that have had to step up in players' absences.feedback

Apr 19 2017

You can't be satisfied. You got to go home and keep playing. This is one of the better road teams in the league. We have to continue to go out and fight, continue to learn, continue to make adjustments and hopefully play well.feedback

Apr 19 2017

We had our backs against the wall in the couple weeks leading into the situation we're in right now where we had to win. And our guys did a good job of doing what had to be done to get us into the postseason. So, we've been playing high-pressure basketball for several weeks. I think that does help you when you come into playoff time.feedback

Apr 16 2017

Jimmy is obviously our best defender. Jimmy is going to have his turn to guard him.feedback

Apr 16 2017

It's a horrible tragedy. He just seems like such a good kid, and obviously he's one of the great competitors we have in our league. ... It's just awful what happened.feedback

Apr 14 2017

We need to understand it's a team problem, it's not just the guy guarding him, it's not just an individual assignment. He's so good getting into the paint, getting downhill, splitting a ball [screen], pick-and-roll, coverage. He's obviously a guy who can shoot it all over the floor with unlimited range, and he gets himself to the free throw line a bunch. You have to have a great awareness at all times of where he is and make sure all five guys on the floor know where he is.feedback

Apr 14 2017 - NBA

We do have a plan in place, but obviously you have to adjust if things are going in the wrong direction. But we do have a plan on how we are going to try to slow him down a little bit, which is obviously difficult to do with the No. 2 scorer in the NBA this year.feedback

Apr 12 2017

I just told the guys how proud I am of them. Our backs were against the wall. We had that four-game [winning] streak against four really good teams that really got us back in the playoff picture ... it's just a great job of being resilient by our players of hanging in there and sticking in there. Finding a way to battle all the way to the last day ... and getting ourselves into the postseason. Now the fun begins.feedback

Apr 09 2017

I thought as the game went on, he got a little more comfortable. Early on, you could tell he had a little rust as anybody would have coming back after as many games as he missed.feedback

Apr 09 2017

I wanted to get him in there at the end. I felt it was the best five-man lineup to put out there to finish games for us. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done.feedback

Apr 05 2017

He went through part of the contact in practice today and he looked good. Guys were out there -- a good, spirited workout. Dwyane was able to participate in a lot of the contact drills. The big thing for him right now is getting his conditioning and wind and timing back, but it was great to see him out there and part of our scrimmage. I think a big thing will be how he responds tomorrow with the increased workload. Get another good conditioning workout tomorrow and then we'll go from there. We'll have another practice in New York on Friday and then see how he's doing.feedback

Apr 05 2017

He just kind of fell on it wrong. Just caused a little bit of swelling in there so he'll get the MRI today and we'll know more in a few hours.feedback

Apr 01 2017

Jimmy did everything again. He found a way to get to the basket, [took] 10 free throws, made them all, obviously was a huge part of that win.feedback

Mar 26 2017

A lot of times when we get slapped in the face, when we get punched in the mouth, when the adversity hits us, we don't handle it well. We talk about it, every game it's going to happen at some point. You're going to have to handle adversity, you're going to have to get through it and it will determine the outcome of the game. Tonight, we did that. They got off to a good start, we hung in there, we kept battling, I didn't see any head hanging ... it's handling adversity. That's the biggest thing that we have to do these last eight games if we want to have a chance.feedback

Mar 06 2017

We did get stagnant. We missed a couple good looks early in the quarter that I thought affected us. But you got to continue to play through it. You got to get it off the board, push it down at the same place that helped us play pretty good offense for most of the first three quarters. But we did, we got stagnant, and couldn't get anything going.feedback

Mar 04 2017

Obviously he's our best player. We got to get him going.feedback

Mar 04 2017

We go out in the first half, we're free-flowing. We score 61 points, had 13 in transition. We had 13 assists. The ball was moving. Everyone was playing for each other. In that second half, we missed shots, we didn't get calls, and it affected us. It affected us on the other end. ... We have to find a way to fight through the tough times.feedback

Jan 02 2017

It's an understatement to say he was phenomenal. He did it in any which way. He just took what the defense gave him and obviously made huge plays down the stretch.feedback
