It kind of ticked me off even more that it was him because he's someone who I have to see later on in the summer, so I have to hear about that.feedback

Apr 20 2017

There was never any animosity, that's for sure. It was refreshing. It's tough to be a new player coming to the locker room and knowing that you're going to squeeze someone out. But I couldn't be happier for how he's been rewarded. … Believe me, he's human. I'm sure he's not thrilled with it, but he doesn't let it show. That's the most important thing, and it allows me to be comfortable as well.feedback

I think we just have to stop when we get back to our net front, be a little more patient. I think they're doing a good job, they're pretty slippery in the corners, but the problem is we're sending a second guy in there and he feels like he needs to go help or help his teammate recover. But we're still in pretty good position. So I think we need to just be a little bit more patient and we'll find that pucks are going to come to us in the middle of the zone and we'll be able to break out.feedback

Apr 18 2017

Every team has pressure on 'em, and I think that we're fine with it. We just have to realize that when we play our best game, we can beat this team. . . . We focus on ourselves, and we're going to be just fine.feedback

Apr 12 2017

There's some demons that these guys have. I dealt with that a lot in St. Louis. We had some guys come in last year who were able to say: 'It's a new year. The responsibility doesn't fall on your shoulders.' That's what I am trying to do here for these guys – just make them realize you can't focus on the past.feedback

Apr 12 2017

But I understand it, . It's funny, you really don't need to tell them too much because they're in the stands and they're still back here supporting us. That shows us that they still believe in us. It shows us they want it just as badly as we do, and I think they just have to, when those moments come, and you know when the momentum turns in a game, keep cheering. Stay loud. Don't think, What if?' Think about, Why not?' I think that's the important message to give to the fans. We're gonna do it and we're gonna need your support all the way through. You just have to trust it.feedback

Apr 12 2017

I think I've noticed that it's something that surrounds this team since I've been here. I think fans are really anxious about it. I've gotten a lot of, Please make it out of the first round, please make it out of the second round' comments this year since I've been here.feedback

Apr 07 2017

My main goal coming in here was not to tip toe into the game and try to figure out how to play with these guys. I just wanted to play how I know is best, play my best games and figure it out on the fly, how to gain some chemistry with these guys. I think the way that I play best and that aggressive offensive style of the game, it allows me to produce. I think when you have so many skilled guys who are making great plays, it's pretty easy for a guy like me to get some points. All of that stuff helps just build great chemistry and make me feel comfortable going into the playoffs.feedback

Apr 04 2017 - Olympic Games

It really seemed like kind of a knee jerk decision by the NHL to just kibosh it. I know we really want to go, and I think we deserve to go and the world deserves to see hockey at that level. It's the highest level of hockey that I've ever played at. And it's great for our game. If we can get over there and the next two Olympics are in that part of the world and grow our game even more, I don't see why we wouldn't do it.feedback

Apr 04 2017 - Olympic Games

I'd tip my caps to those guys for doing it, and I think that's something that I'm sure will cause trouble with your team, but if that's your sentiment and that's how you feel, then absolutely, you should honor that and be proud that you did it. I definitely wouldn't hold anything against you.feedback

Apr 04 2017 - Olympic Games

It just seems like they want to use it as a bargaining chip. That's wrong. That's not what the Olympics is for. The reason we started going was so we could grow the game and show the world how great it is when you get the best players in the world playing against each other. That's what we're trying to achieve with the World Cup, but that's going to take time and this is right in the prime of it. The last Olympics was fantastic, and to just dismiss it, really, without much conversation is tough.feedback

Mar 31 2017

It's more stunning when you're playing against him. But, really, I think the way that this power play seems to utilize the other openings and the other plays that wind up opening up from them shading him so much, it forces teams to just have to just kill in a regular way.feedback

Mar 31 2017

We have so many looks on our power play that it always frees him up. But his ability to, not even off the one-timer when he catches passes – goalies really seem to push over on him – and his ability to change the angle at which he's shooting is really what separates him, I think. He's able to find that far side of the net rather than just beat the goalie on the short side with his one-timer. And when you have a guy like him, who's shooting, people second-guess themselves a lot.feedback

Mar 31 2017

Everyone's too scared to go to him because if one guy runs out of plays, he's able to make a pass and then everything's really opened up.feedback

Mar 26 2017

New York, I think you can try a new place every time and hit a home run. That's the beauty of New York. But I enjoy going to other cities and finding great places because I feel like in New York, I'm always going to find a great place.feedback

Mar 26 2017

That was fine dining. That was probably one of the best meals I've ever had. But that's a hard one to do every time you go to Chicago. It's like a 14- or 15-course meal with wine pairings. It was unbelievable.feedback

Mar 26 2017

It's so easy to go to the top names or the ones that you hear of all the time, but when you go to a lot of these cities, the food scenes everywhere now are really starting to improve. A lot of my friends naturally are foodies. They bring me to some of their places. Even just a simple Google, most of the times, the first two things that come up are Yelp or TripAdvisor, and I usually go a couple down and look at a local newspaper, if they have the best spots to eat in 2017. I like to focus on those.feedback

Mar 26 2017

He does so many other things that I think don't get noticed. He makes a lot of poised plays, gets pucks out of our zone almost every time, is great on the penalty kill and you love to see guys like that get rewarded with big-time goals like that because we need everyone at this point in the year and he's certainly one of them.feedback

Mar 23 2017

It's key coming down the stretch here. Those are the guys that we're going to need come playoff time. You need your best players to play their best. They're approaching it really well.feedback

Mar 16 2017

It was tough because I did feel like I was starting to get used to everything. Luckily, it wasn't too long of a break where I don't feel like I lost too much. . . . I think it's good to watch the games and maybe go through some plays in your mind and kind of figure out how you would do them yourself.feedback

Mar 16 2017

I think I've just been trying to tell myself to make sure I'm playing the same way and not playing timid at all. I think, more importantly, just trying to jump back in with these guys and give them any sort of boost that I can.feedback

Mar 14 2017

It's certainly not ideal. For a player like me, I think I was really starting to get into a groove with these guys and it's a tough time for the team right now too. I wish I was more a part of it and could be in this locker room to go through it with these guys because it goes a long way 10 games from now to suffer through with these guys.feedback

Mar 14 2017

Unfortunately my hit checked off a few too many boxes. I made a bad read on it. I thought he was going to come in at a different angle and I would have a cleaner hit and he went another route and it's on me at that point to adjust or slow up and not make that hit. More than anything I'm fortunate that he's not out for a long period of time, or not out at all.feedback

Mar 14 2017

Unfortunately my hit checked off a few too many boxes in the criteria they use to judge those situations. I think that looking at a lot of other suspensions that have been handed out it seems like that's kind of a similar amount to what's been done before.feedback

Mar 06 2017

That's why he's been in this league for so long, because he's such a great teammate, and I hope he knows that I would do the same for him. … Like a lot of guys in this league, you may not like him when you're playing against him, but when you get in the locker room you realize that they're some of the best guys around.feedback

Mar 06 2017

It was amazing. I think for me to only be here for a few days so far and to come out there in an emotional game like this against a big rival for these guys – and now for me – it was a great start. And for him to stick up for me, especially with our little tussle that we had a few years ago, that's the type of guy he is.feedback

Mar 05 2017

I think I have to realize that I have to take control of it a little bit more and maybe take some shots from my position. Especially there in the overtime, I took that shot that went wide, but it's more so a matter of getting guys to worry about and have to play for it. I think once that gets going, I can start to find Ovi on the other side a little bit more and open up some more space for Nick.feedback

Mar 05 2017

Not so much uncomfortable as just I think I'm forcing it a little too much. And that was something to be expected a little bit, but it's a matter of me just calming down. I think there's been a little too much panic in my game in all areas of the ice. As games have gone on, though, I've been able to settle down a little bit. I think the best part about that overtime there was it was a chance for me just kind of go play and forget about worrying about systems and the rest of it and that's what I just have to do mentally for myself.feedback

Mar 05 2017

It took us a while to figure it out. … But we finally got it down pat.feedback

Mar 05 2017

We were in the locker room each period trying to figure out what we used to do years ago.feedback

Mar 02 2017

It's always a pretty raucous environment, so I'm looking forward to that. I think there's a great fan base here, and they make it very hard to win in this building. I'm happy to be on the other side of things and be on the team that plays very well in this building.feedback

Mar 02 2017

I was able to get lost a couple times and start to learn it slowly but surely.feedback

Mar 02 2017

It's just become my new nickname, my new persona. I'm sure it'll catch on here, and I'm sure Osh will be making sure all of the guys are using it.feedback

Mar 02 2017

He was like, What about 'Shattdeuces?'. Without even thinking about the other translations or what it would be perceived as, Shattdeuces was born, I guess.feedback

Mar 02 2017 - Twitter

I loved it. Once it came out, it was just something really fun to go with. Once people starting hitting me back on Twitter about it, it's just something we had a good laugh about.feedback

Feb 01 2017

It's going to be a bit of a fresh start for us going forward but as players we have to look at ourselves in the mirror too. This isn't just a coaching problem. This is something we have to fix in the locker room and we're all in this together.feedback
