Last quote by Matt Baron

I was shunned like a leper. Women students shouted obscenities at me in the streets and one male friend, whose wedding I attended, emailed to say that I was a vile scumbag who should rot in jail. I found myself banned from my college and sent home to Derbyshire in disgrace. I think it is right to protect those who are victimised. If my suffering is the price to be paid for even one person being saved by intervention, then I accept it.feedback

They were probably generalists, which served as a big advantage during the middle and late Triassic–arid and very harsh times to be alive. But that's not going to be the most popular idea. A lot of people thought that dinosaurs were ancestrally carnivorous, and it's just the ornithischians being weird.feedback

Our results strongly suggest that the ancestral dinosaur was a quick, two-footed, generalist feeder that would have eaten a mix of plants and meat.feedback

We may be proved to be correct, we may not. But what has to happen now is a complete abandonment of old dogmatic views across the field because we have shown that rigorous and objective studies can pull apart age-old ideas, and that we as scientists should never got too comfortable with an idea when it can still be tested in new ways.feedback

The parallels with human evolution are very noticeable and make you wonder what they could have achieved. Toward the end, certain groups like the velociraptors were starting to get intelligent.feedback

In the very harsh climates of the late Triassic, being a generalist is probably a clever strategy. The ability to run fast and eat anything and grasp with the hands is what gave dinosaurs their advantage.feedback

This is obviously going to be met with some hostility from Southern American researchers. There's nothing special about this guy. Saltopus is the right place in terms of evolution but you have much better fossils that would be better candidates for such a dinosaur precursor. Maybe we did have fluffy Triceratops and fluffy Stegosaurus. It could be that the feathers would have been poking out between the scales, it could have been a beautiful fluffy colourful plumage ... or scales covered in downy feathers. It's possible. It looks like a chicken carcass after a Sunday roast.feedback

We didn't want to the those palaeontologists who told the world that Diplodocus and Brontosaurus weren't dinosaurs. We'd be like the guys who said Pluto wasn't a planet.feedback
