I am proud to make this little bit of history but if we don't qualify for the Asian cup, what is the use of 8 wins in a row?feedback

If it is a battle of stamina, we are very physical and quite strong. We are a fit, hardworking team. They will be difficult to break down, they will think they can win. We are in India and need to do everything we have to take the three points.feedback

I would say not worth the paper. I think the rankings are there for a reason. Many variables which determine the rankings. Whether we are 32 above or below will not decide the outcome but by who wants it more and how hard. Rankings are there but in these games, there are on paper.feedback

May 13 2017

I called him (Debjit Majumder) up in our squad and he failed to show up. End of story. He is not interested even though I called him into the India game.feedback

May 11 2017

There is no time for these guys to even train properly as they play and then have to travel for the next match. By spreading the season to a longer period, it will allow the coaches to impart their knowledge to the players. For sure, the Indian players will benefit from some of the good foreign coaches. This is really what I would have wanted from the beginning.feedback

May 11 2017

I am absolutely delighted that the powers that be put their heads together and came up with the best solution for Indian football. Period.feedback

In this case, a prolonged season is about the duration of the league. It is about how much time the coaches have to coach. This is because that's not happening in the current format as the games are scheduled too close to each other. A longer league will give players more time to rest, recover and also improve their skills daily with their coaches. A longer league allows you to spread out the season and give time to the players to understand what the coach wants better. It's so much better.feedback

I think it will be extremely beneficial. With more Indian players playing in the top divisions of Indian football, the more beneficial it is for me and national coaches. It is also good for the younger players. At the moment we have one under-23 player playing per team, I think with two conferences or two leagues, whichever way you want to put it, there will be more young Indian players playing and competing which is exactly what we want. As for me, it is a very good move.feedback

I don't think we are dependant on Sunil Chhetri. He is always at the right place at the right time. There is fierce competition for all places. Sunil Chhetri is a player who has been consistent, he is professional, he looks after himself and he is a great player and great leader. We are happy with him but there are plenty of other players who are coming up and we would continue to search for players that will help us.feedback

Apr 04 2017

They both are great players in their own right. Bhaichung (Bhutia) maybe was a little bit more aggressive. Maybe that was because he spent three years in England. But Sunil Chhetri is different, he can play a bit wider. He can come off the flanks. He can give us different looks if you like. I think there is quite a big difference.feedback

Apr 04 2017

I would be a little happier if Bolivia didn't beat Argentina because then we would have been 97. Having said that, am I happy? Yes. Can we do better? Absolutely.feedback

Apr 04 2017

I think that's above my pay scale. What I am interested is there are games with Indian players so that I can select them for the national team. I have said quite a bit in the past about a lot of things and we don't need to be talking about that today.feedback

Apr 04 2017

The football team needs a spine, after giving debuts to 34 odd players, did you find the spine that could take India to the 2019 Asian Cup? With regard to the spine, I would always be looking at players who can make us better regardless of where they come from, provided they have Indian passports.feedback

Apr 04 2017

I believe we have the nucleus of the squad, our average age is 24. I believe we have a team that will take us hopefully to the Asian Cup and beyond. And for the next four-five years.feedback

Mar 28 2017 - Burma

Any coach makes substitutions to try and change the game and our substitutions were brilliant on the field today. We put (Sunil) Chhetri more towards the left and that worked out well for us. We have to get nine points in this group in away matches. Having secured three points away gives us a lot more confidence to move forward.feedback

Mar 27 2017 - Burma

If I didn't think we could beat them, I wouldn't beat them. We can beat anyone on our day. We have to do our work. We have to hope Myanmar has a bad day and we have a good one to win. We have planned for about 10 days for this game.feedback

Mar 27 2017 - Macau

I believe we have a chance to qualify and I like to think Myanmar has the same. I'm not sure about Kyrgyzstan or Macau. It's the first game of the competition, it's an away game and we didn't come here to lose. We have big respect for Myanmar we come here to play. They've shown big improvement over the last few years. But we come here to play.feedback

Mar 27 2017 - Burma

India can beat anyone on their day.feedback

Mar 27 2017 - Burma

We'll prepare like we have for the last two days. We've been working hard. We understand the game will be very tough. Myanmar has a very good team, very good situation here, on the field and I think Myanmar are the favourites for this game.feedback

Mar 26 2017 - Burma

Myanmar are definitely the favourites. Playing at home is always an advantage for any team. They have been together for some time and the familiarity with each other is so much beneficial when you take the field. They certainly have the advantage.feedback

Mar 26 2017 - Burma

Considering the last 18 months, we are in a good place at the moment. Nothing is too serious and the players are ready.feedback

Mar 26 2017 - Burma

They work very hard and love to press. When you combine with the two with the ability they have and add the crowd and atmosphere to it, the combination is just deadly.feedback

Mar 22 2017 - Burma

At the end of day, it's a win and I am very happy for the boys and all who have been involved in the process. But there is no place to go over the moon. We have a sterner test next week, an acid test in fact.feedback

Mar 22 2017 - Burma

But the important thing is that we won the game and we do not have any injuries and next week we have a very difficult game against Myanmar.feedback

Mar 22 2017 - Burma

I agree that we were a bit casual in the beginning mainly because we haven't played together since September which is a long time.feedback

Mar 22 2017 - Cambodia

I think they all played very well. If I am the coach of Cambodia then I will be very happy only after two weeks.feedback

Mar 21 2017 - Cambodia

For us it is an important friendly. We have a difficult game after this with Myanmar. Coming to Cambodia means similar conditions, similar weather. I think it will be an interesting game for us. I wish Cambodia's new coach (Leonardo Vitorino) all the very best and good luck except not so much good luck tomorrow. We are taking this game very seriously and we are trying to give our best performance.feedback

Mar 21 2017 - Cambodia

Yes, we have two or three players who are 50-50 for this game.feedback

Mar 21 2017 - Cambodia

I did not come here to lose. I wish him all the best from the day after, but not tomorrow. All of them. Anyone can hurt you anytime. I have seen them play two or three times and they are a good team with good intensity.feedback

Mar 18 2017

We haven't had access to the players, so when they go back to the clubs (between national camps), it is a different level and intensity is different. The boys know what is expected.feedback

Mar 18 2017 - World Cup

The best example of continuity is Myanmar. They qualified for the U-20 World Cup 2015 on merit, average age on the senior national team is about 24 and have got a coach (former U-19 coach Gerd Ziese put in charge of Myanmar senior side) for the last eight years.feedback

Mar 18 2017

My personal opinion is that the national coach should lead all the national teams, in (football) philosophy, selection of coaches, methodology. They (talented age group boys) are going to come to him. There is a side to the argument which asks what happens when a national coach gets sacked. Till 17 years, the boys are learning different systems anyway. The philosophy may change (when a new coach comes in), but continuity is essential.feedback

Mar 18 2017 - Cambodia

I need to thank the Western India Football Association headed by Mr. Praful Patel and Mr. Aditya Thackeray for their hospitality and help. I admire their passion for the National Team. We didn't face any obstacle during our training process.feedback

Mar 18 2017 - Cambodia

The character showed by the boys in the Camp has been exemplary. They worked very hard and we are looking forward to getting a result in both the matches. We are ready for the dual challenge.feedback
